Morning Drop Off & Dismissal Procedures

In Person Learning

Please have your child(ren) practice wearing a face covering for their safety and to reduce anxiety.  Upon arriving Staff/Students will have to have completed the daily electronic screening COVID tool.

Don't forget to update your child's health, permission and emergency contact information through the ASPEN portal (Back to School Workflows) each year.   If you need help with your password/access please reach out to our office at 268-6540.

Please read the Student Permission workflow carefully as it asks you  to check the boxes below for ANY DIRECTORY INFORMATION YOU WISH TO HAVE WITHHELD.
 
  • Staggered Arrival - 9:10-9:25 Buses/Kinder parent drop off - 9:20-9:40 Daycare & Grades 1-5 Parent Drop Off (All through main bus lane - Do not drop off students in center lane - Do not pass vehicles - Do not get out of your car)

    • Kindergarten students can start arriving at 9:10 at the following locations on the left side/Gym of the building.  Please wear masks and maintain social distance.

    • All other students must remain in their car, van or bus until the staggered opening time. 

    • At 9:25 all other students will walk into the grades 4/5 classroom exit doors or grades 1, 2 and 3 will walk through the Garden gate to the following locations on the right side/Garden of the building.  Please wear masks and maintain social distance.

    • Upon entering the classroom Students/Staff are asked to use hand sanitizer.

  • ARRIVAL
    • We will start parent drop off as soon as the buses pass!
    • Please pull all the way up to the first spot at the yellow curb past the entry doors.
    • We will start unloading at the start of the yellow curb/where the bus lane sign/area starts 
    • Please have students sit in the passenger side if possible to exit
    • Please say your goodbyes before you pull up
    • Please do not get out of the car (unless you need to help unbuckle your child(ren)
    • Please try and help keep it moving, if no one is in front of you and you have dropped off you should exit.
    • DO NOT PASS ANY VEHICLES IN THIS LANE (THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN - DIFFERENT FROM PICK UP)
    • Daycare will arrive with parent drop off
     
  • Main Office 

    • No visitors or volunteers allowed at this time

    • If a student is coming in late we will be asking parents to take a picture of the doctor’s note/appointment and to share it electronically

    • In light of the national pandemic, all NKSD Elementary School will only be allowing necessary items to be dropped off at school for students during the 2020-21 school year. These items include:

      • Medications

      • Eye glasses

      • Chromebooks/Backpacks

      • Lunches

      • Sneakers for PE

    • Each school will have a table in the vestibule/foyer area or outside main building doors specifically for dropped off items. Parents should call and let the school know they have a necessary item to drop-off. Upon arrival, parents will ring the bell and use the intercom to let the office know the item has arrived. The parents will then place the labeled item on the table. The office staff or a TA  will go and retrieve the item and bring it to the student/nurse. 

 
  • Bathrooms

    • All classes have assigned bathroom times twice a day

    • Bathrooms will be cleaned in between classes

    • Students will wash their hands after using the bathroom and before lunch

    • Bathrooms will be available on an as needed basis as well

 
  • Lunch/Recess

    • We will have two rotating lunches/recesses this year

      • Grades 3-5 : 12:05-1:05

      • Kinder - Grade 2 : 1:15-2:15

    • All classes will eat lunch in their classroom and have recess only with their class

    • If EATING INSIDE STUDENTS WILL NEED TO EAT SNACK/LUNCH SILENTLY - Once finished eating students can ONLY talk when masks are back on - We will try to eat outside as much as possible

    • All classes will have assigned recess space that rotates daily with structured activities

    • TAs who are part of the classroom pods will monitor their own pods during recess

    • At this time, students will not be able to use the playground equipment

    • Thank you PTO for providing individualized classroom recess materials

    • Cleaning protocols will be followed for materials

 
  • Specials

    • Specials will run by semester this year to reduce contact

    • Students will either have a combination of PE/Music or Art/Library each semester

    • Art and Library will be held in classrooms

    • PE and Music will be held outdoors as much as possible or in the music room or Gym

    • Cleaning protocols will be followed for materials

 
  • New Outdoor Learning Locations will be used by classrooms as much as possible!

 
  • Staggered Dismissal - Buses 3:30-3:45 - 3:40 Daycare - All Grades Parent Pick Up 3:45-4:00 (All through main bus lane -  PLEASE HAVE ID AND STUDENT TEACHER PICK UP LIST IN PASSENGER SIDE FRONT WINDOW READY - Do not pick up students in center lane - Do not pass vehicles - Do not get out of your car)

    • (Parent pick up will now run through the front bus lane to reduce contact and make it more efficient. We will ask for ID and pick up names in the passenger front window)

    • We will be using a daily electronic dismissal form, which home will need to complete each day (we will send it the night before to help families have time to complete it)

    • Daily Pick Up Electronic Request:

      We now require you to complete the linked electronic form if you are picking up your child from school.

      This form must be completed every day you are picking up at Dismissal or Early Dismissal.

      Please do not use this form for bus riders.

      Please do not use this form for Daycare after school students.

  • DISMISSAL

    • Please post the names of the children you are picking up on the passenger side or front side window and have your ID ready
    • We will start parent pick up as soon as the buses pass!
    • Please pull all the way up to the first spot at the yellow curb past the entry doors.
    • We will load two lanes of cars through the bus lane at the entryway/doors of Stony Lane School. 
    • Please have students enter the passenger side door if possible
    • Please try and move quickly   (unless you need to help buckle your child(ren)
    • Please do not get out of the car  (unless you need to help buckle your child(ren)
    • Please try and help keep it moving
    • WE WILL DIRECT YOU TO PASS AT TIMES TO KEEP IT MOVING
    • Daycare will arrive with parent pick up
