Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are pleased to announce that the North Kingstown School District has launched a new online collection tool to replace our three previous annual information workflows. This updated system simplifies how you submit annual information for your children attending NK schools.
Tips for Completing the Form:
Mobile Recommended: We suggest using a smartphone or tablet, as the forms were specifically optimized for mobile devices.
Desktop Users: If you are using a laptop or desktop computer, please switch to the "Mobile View" tab to ensure the screen matches the instruction guide.
If you experience any technical issues while completing the form, please email us for assistance.

Good Afternoon NK Families,
Please see the linked letter, which provides an update and information on the school district's plan to study how technology is used throughout our district and how we can ensure that it is being used effectively across all grade levels in support of the Vision of the Learner.
Also linked are reading and math materials for elementary students that require no technology. This summer, elementary students will not be taking school Chromebooks home. They may practice their skills by accessing these resources over the summer.
I thank you for your continued support and collaboration, and I look forward to working with you as we make thoughtful and informed decisions together for the benefit of student learning and well-being.
Sincerely,
Rob Mezzanotte
Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning

Screenagers: The Elementary School Edition addresses the issues that elementary school-aged kids, guardians, and educators face regarding technology use. The film blends real-world examples and expert advice with the latest research and solutions.
Join us on April 2nd, 2026, in the NKHS Auditorium at 7 pm.

NKSD would like to invite families to a screening of "Screenagers: The Elementary School Edition" on
Thursday, April 2nd from 7-8:00pm at NK High School.
"Are you watching children become accustomed to technology at increasingly younger ages, drawn to stimulating online content, video games, and early social media exposure?
In Screenagers: Elementary School Age Edition, Dr. Ruston takes a deeply personal approach, exploring the vulnerable corners of family life, including her own, while seeking solutions to challenges such as setting limits, managing device distractions in school, moderating video game use, and navigating exposure to online content at too young an age.
This film addresses the challenges elementary school–aged children, parents, and educators face in today’s digital world, including early exposure to online content, social media pressures, device distractions in the classroom, moderating video game use and behavior, and rising sleep deprivation among youth. Screenagers Elementary School Age Edition is specifically tailored for younger parents of elementary school-age kids, focusing on the unique challenges and developmental needs of younger children. This edition offers age-appropriate strategies for building healthy digital habits early."

March 4, 2026
Dear North Kingstown Families and Staff,
Due to the five school days cancelled as a result of the February 2026 blizzard, we would like to provide an update on how these days will be addressed in the 2025–2026 school calendar.
Two of the cancelled days occurred during the State of Emergency. The Commissioner of Education has indicated that she will seek approval from the Council of Elementary and Secondary Education to waive those two days. At this time, that approval is still pending.
The remaining three cancelled days are not automatically eligible for a waiver. To ensure we remain in compliance with state instructional requirements while minimizing disruption to families, we carefully reviewed our calendar and total instructional minutes.
As a result:
Friday, March 27, 2026 (previously scheduled as a Professional Development Day), will now be a regular school day for students.
Following this adjustment, the district will submit a formal request to the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) to waive the remaining two days based on our total instructional minutes.
If the requested waivers are approved, the last day of school for students will be June 18, 2026.
This plan allows us to:
- Meet state instructional requirements
- Avoid extending the school year further into late June
- Preserve as much of the original calendar as possible
- Provide timely clarity for families and staff
We will continue to keep you informed as we receive final decisions from RIDE and the Council. In the meantime, please mark March 27 as a school day for students.
Thank you for your continued support, flexibility, and partnership.
Sincerely,
Kenneth A. Duva, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
