North Kingstown, R.I. – The North Kingstown Police Department and the North
Kingstown Police Union IBPO Local 473 are proud to announce the launch of a new
anti-bullying campaign that will launch on July 28, with support and endorsement from
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rhode Island, Black Lives Matter RI, the Jewish Alliance of
Greater Rhode Island, the United Way, and Youth Pride, Inc., and our incredible
business partners throughout the community.
Chief John Urban emphasized the importance of community involvement in these
efforts: "Bullying is not just a school or student issue; it's a community issue. We are grateful
for the solid partnership with these esteemed organizations and our local businesses which
enables us to address this pervasive problem effectively. Together, we can create a supportive
environment that nurtures the wellbeing and growth of every member of our community with a
focus on students K-12 as they begin to prepare for their upcoming school year. This
collaborative initiative aims to foster a safer and more inclusive environment for our children,
youth, and our community by eliminating bias and promoting understanding and respect for all
individuals.”
About the campaign
The campaign encourages K-12 students residing in North Kingstown to take a pledge
against bullying, promoting kindness, inclusivity, and respect. When a student takes the
pledge and signs their name, they will receive an “I Made the Pledge NK” bracelet.
To further incentivize participation, local businesses are stepping up to reward those
who commit to the pledge when they show their bracelet at their establishment from
August 25 through September 1.
This community-wide effort highlights the importance of standing together against
bullying and supporting our youth and community.
“North Koffee Roasters is honored to support the North Kingstown Police Department’s anti-
bullying campaign. We are excited to host this important event, bringing our community
together to promote kindness, respect and unity. By standing with our local law enforcement, we
aim to make a positive impact and foster a safer environment for everyone while helping to
eliminate bias.” – Stephanie Additon, North Koffee Owner
